TCJ Chapel

Auditions are by video submission. 

To submit your audition video, fill out the short questionnaire HERE and upload your file where indicated.

General Requirements:

• • Submit a recent, unedited video from a service. (No post-production and we must be able to clearly hear and see you).

--OR--

• • Record yourself singing or playing (you can do both) a worship song or hymn that best demonstrates your ability.

Video Requirements:

• Time: No longer than 2 minutes.
• Quality: Ensure the video is well-lit, the audio is clear, and the camera stays focused on you.
• Setting: Record in a clean, semi-professional place where you feel comfortable and confident. (i.e. not your bedroom)
• Submission: upload the video directly to the audition form.

Auditions are limited to current students in good standing and students who have received conditional acceptance to Trinity College of Jacksonville.

Chapels may include piano, acoustic & electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, keyboard, and auxiliary instruments as needed (e.g. flute, violin, viola, cello, mandolin, banjo, etc.), and singers on melody and harmony (soprano, tenor and alto).

We are eager to learn about new musicians in all the different instruments and voice parts. Though space on the team is limited, students graduate or need to leave the team for various reasons so open positions vary from semester to semester. We may also be looking to incorporate various auxiliary instruments into certain chapels and the only way for us to know that those instruments are available to us is if you audition. Additionally, sometimes team members will find themselves in an emergency situation due to sickness or travel and will need to miss a regularly scheduled chapel. At these times we can call on musicians that have auditioned but have not yet been invited to participate in regular chapels, as we keep of a list of auditioned and qualified musicians on a roster for emergency situations. So, if you are interested, we highly encourage you to audition even if you may not be chosen for the regular chapel team!

• Rehearsal times vary from semester to semester as we try to work around student class schedules. Typically, rehearsals will be on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons.
• Team members must be at all rehearsals in order to participate.

Team members spend 2-3 hours in preparation, rehearsal, and performance each week.

The college has an acoustic drum set, keyboards, and amps. Guitarists will need to supply their own instruments and pedal boards. Due to the fact that the auditorium is a shared facility, team members are not permitted to practice with these instruments outside of normal rehearsal and chapel presentations.

We accept auditions at any time. Please note that depending on the time of year your audition is submitted the team may already be assembled. However, we welcome you to submit your audition as we are always interested in discovering new talent and building layers into the team. After your audition and questionnaire are completed, we will contact you about the results of your audition through your TCJ email address.

The audition video serves as your first-round audition. In order to make the chapel band team, you must pass the live, on-campus audition. You will be notified in your reply email if you have been invited to the second round of auditions.

Please note that these audition videos are for the chapel ministry team ONLY. These videos may not be used for entrance into the Worship Leadership Degree.

Please know that there are several factors involved in selecting team members, only one of which is musical competency. Often, there simply isn’t a spot for your chosen instrument currently.
