TCJ Hosts Event for Pastors

Over 45 tbc Alumni pastors and First Coast Churches pastors spent the day on Trinity’s campus last week.

Trinity College of Jacksonville together with Trinity Baptist Church hosted Refresh & Recharge: A Gathering For Pastors.  The event focused on providing support and fellowship to pastors of all ages in both practical and spiritual matters. Guests benefitted from the decades of experience of Pastor Tom Messer (Chancellor of Trinity College of Jacksonville and Lead pastor of Trinity Baptist Church) and Bob Bumgarner (Lead Missional Strategist with First Coast Churches). Several local tbc alumni pastors were in attendance, an encouraging visual representation of Trinity College of Jacksonville’s impact on the greater Jacksonville area.

The day started with two breakout sessions. In How to Deal With Spiritual Dryness and Discouragement, pastors learned how to identify major symptoms and common causes of spiritual dryness and discouragement as well as pathways to recovering spiritual vitality. A session on Crucial Conversations, gave practical insight on how to have productive conversations and how to approach difficult subjects.

After the breakout sessions, the entire group joined the college chapel service where Chancellor Messer spoke on Healing a Wounded Spirit, using the passage of scripture in I Kings where Elijah encounters God while hiding in a cave.

The day closed with tbc Alumnus Dan Proctor hosting a Q&A session with Messer and Bumgarner. Dan is an alumnus of tbc with 35 years of experience in local church ministry.  He and his wife, Deniece, lead Help for Hurting Pastors, an organization which supports pastors and their spouses through personal struggles and challenges.  He also serves as Church Strengthening Director in the Southeast region of Converge MSC.

Thanks to First Coast Churches and Converge MSC for providing breakfast and lunch respectively for NE Florida pastors!
